Today, JIM – aka Jim Baron of Crazy P – announces his new album The Curious Case Of Existence, due out 18th September via Vicious Charm. To accompany the announcement, and following last month’s single “Love Over Gold”, JIM has shared the album’s irresistible new single “Keeps Me Warm”, a beautiful, raw yet tender piece of music with looped guitar, electric swirls and tapped-out rhythms full of love and longing.

Additionally, JIM has announced a six-date UK tour this October, including a performance at NT’s Loft in East London. Full dates are listed below.

When JIM’s debut album Love Makes Magic was released in 2023, it marked the culmination of an experiment that began during the strange days of the pandemic. Cooped up in his studio, James Baron started tinkering with what would become a new musical project. The result was Vicious Charm’s first LP release.

Several tracks were overseen by veteran producer and musician Eddie Stevens (Moloko, Sia, Zero 7), who provided ideas, keyboards and guidance throughout the recording process.

Sadly, The Curious Case Of Existence was completed in the shadow of the death of Crazy P vocalist Danielle Moore, whose passing in August 2024 continues to be deeply felt by everyone who knew her.

Her memory inevitably finds its way into the album’s closing track, “Windmills”, in which JIM recalls a road trip the pair took through the landscapes of Palm Springs and Las Vegas several years ago.

“I wanted to write something about her but I was struggling to find what it was I wanted to say... We had just driven past Palm Springs when Mary Lattimore’s version of ‘Wait For Now’ by Cinematic Orchestra came on, and it’s just harp and vocals and is absolutely jaw-dropping. It’s this long stretch, with windmills either side of the road, hundreds of them, and this red sky — we were both welling up. It was a real moment. I’d rather remember Dani in this positive way than any other.”
