OVERVIEW:
Sing, Sung, Singing' echoes the spirit of folk in it’s commentary of life, and jazz in it's freedom to explore. It's looking inward at the personal and looking outward at the world around us. The thread that weaves this album together is the warmth and resonance of the cello, alongside richly layered vocals, building a sound world all of it's own.
Recorded by Sam Grant (Richard Dawson, Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs) at Blank Studios in Newcastle, the production reflects the depth of the material. Going from a single voice and tenor guitar recorded in one take, a lullaby to grief, to big layered, songs with cello driven grooves and riffs, addressing the world as it is and how we can move in different directions. Through history, humans have always sung, it accompanies us through life. 'Sing, Sung Singing' refers to the sense of being ancient and new. It’s looking back and facing forward.
